Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics of Drexel University is encourage and enable knowledge through

the education of engineers for leadership in industry, business, academia, and government; and
- the establishment of internationally recognized research programs.
This mission is accomplished by the delivery of an outstanding curriculum, the participation of our students in one of the nation's most prestigious co-operative program, and through the scholarly activities of the faculty.
Vision Statement
The Department of Mechanics at Drexel University will be a premier institution for mechanical engineering education and will be internationally recognized in a variety of areas of mechanical engineering research and scholarly work.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics will:

Have a dynamic faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship, creating and transferring knowledge that provide the foundation for new educational programs in areas of emerging technologies

Respond to current societal needs by developing selected "target research thrusts" which utilize the talent and encompass the aspiration of the faculty and by providing the appropriate research infrastructure supporting our faculty to excel in their field of expertise.

Offer nationally recognized, integrated, undergraduate engineering educational programs that tailor a student's learning expertise to her/his professional and career aspirations;

Have a nationally-recognized undergraduate educational program which integrates the student's learning experience co-op internship;
- Maintain state-of-the-art laboratories and facility infrastructure to support the educational and research enterprise.
